UNION HAUNTING - Personal Tribulation of BETH
This is the personal tribulation of Beth who now is a member of the Para-Form and an independent paranormal investigator and enthusiast.
"I first heard about the Union house sometime in early 2005. I was a member on a web daily basis. The conversations continued for quite some time. "Bob" was the name of the ghost, and he might not have been the only one causing the array of activities in the house. This piqued my interest. Someone was actually willing to talk about their home being haunted, and they couldn't or wouldn't leave it. After many discussions a picture was posted of the house, I believe on that forum. I saw the house and yet when I heard all of the stories being told, the only thing I could envision was the Munster's Mansion, with lightning flashes every few moments, the wind howling, and some prehistoric looking person coming out the front door. It was that way at all. It was a cute little cape cod looking house, with a front porch, a tree in the front yard, and grass, green grass. After some discussions between people who lived there, people who had visited there, and people who wanted to visit there, a date was set to meet. August 20th, 2005. It was a Saturday night. I had invited a former coworker to go with me, but she couldn't due to family obligations, so my husband, my 6 year old daughter, and myself, packed up in the car and headed to Union, Missouri. Coming into town, it looked like so many other small towns in America, but this town had rolling landscapes, small hills, and the countryside was beautiful. After following the Mapquest directions, we ended up at the Union house. I immediately got out of the car and took a small gift bag for Linda, and a pecan pie up to the house. I walked up the front steps, and got a feeling of being watched as I knocked on the door. The door opened and there my evening began. Introductions were made, and I met Linda and Steven. I just had to hug them both. I brought Linda a can of chicken soup, mostly as a little joke, and a candle, just odds and ends. Small things offered with much love. I looked around the living room and parlor area. There were cherubs on the border at the ceiling. Odd that a house could be so active with ghosts and entities and have all these pretty cherubs staring down. There were angels around the house, I would come to notice. I met so many people there that night, some staying to investigate, and some just passing through. There had been some situation occur prior to my arriving. A camera had gone missing, and the owner was upset. The first thing I knew, I heard a gentleman in the kitchen say "quit messing with me, now stop it!" And then someone mentioned that Bob was messing with Mike. After some chit chat, Steven asked if I would like to see the basement. On the forum there had been much discussion about things going on in the house. One of the oddest things to happen was there were claw marks showing up on the basement floor. Pieces of the floor had actually been pulled out and stacked up. Not knowing what was down there waiting, we pressed on and went into the basement. I did see where there was what appeared to be claw marks on the floor, and there were quite a few places where that was going on. The whole basement area appeared to be disintegrating from the floor to the walls. We also looked around to see where a rather large camera could have gone and there was only one pipe that was open, and we saw no way it could have been dragged down in it. We also looked through an opening into a space that appeared to be a crawlspace area. Steven even asked me what could be under there, and I had no idea. I saw the root cellar area and where digging had been going on, but this was man-made as Steven and some of the others in his group were trying to determine if there was a grave in that area. After looking the basement over we started up the steps and Steven remarked that he hated going up last because whatever was down there was known to touch the last person coming up the steps. About half way up the steps I felt a dizzying feeling. I couldn't figure out what it was. As soon as I hit the top of the steps, it was gone. Steven remarked that was the first time he hadn't been touched. We laughed about it. The evening continued with people coming and going. After some time we ordered pizzas and we ate. This was a good group of people. Everyone got along and we were all waiting for something to happen. Steven and Linda remarked that when it got dark, they could feel the house change. I couldn't begin to imagine what that meant. But I was willing to wait it out. We broke up into groups and each group went to a different part of the house. Linda and I stayed in the living room and we turned off all the lights. We discussed the whole TAPS situation and how there were some nay sayers on there but they hadn't been through what Linda and her family had. We would just sit and sometimes talk, and then finally everyone started coming back into the living room. We were going to try and call "Bob" out. The air conditioning was turned off so that it wouldn't kick on and freak everyone out. Everyone had their equipment going and at the ready. Some of the people were calling for Bob and a little boy was mentioned and Linda was asked to call him out. She was sitting crossed legged on the living room floor. I believe it was Tracey who said that she could see someone standing in the bathroom doorway. That Bob was holding back at coming to visit. At that point we smelled what seemed to be flowers. It was very potent as though someone had just sprayed the room. You could see somewhat in the room where people were and there were flashlights, but no one spraying anything. And then you could smell marijuana that is all I could relate it to. That smell came and went as well. There was a photographer for a local newspaper there and he was going to try and get some pictures. Someone had a thermal scanner, and it went down 20 degrees right in front of Linda. You couldn't see anything but Linda said that she could feel him there, and she offered to let him sit on her lap. She stated that he was sitting on her lap and she could feel his weight on her legs. At that point someone had a type of camera, night vision, or thermal maybe, and they said something black had moved into the parlor, adjoining the living room, and it was moving into the living room. It was at the ceiling and was moving slowly. Someone took a Gaussmeter and moved it around and you could actually tell where the entity was. It was very big, tall, and then all of a sudden someone said, "he has come for the little boy,” and with that Linda said that the little boy was gone. This seemed to take just a few moments, but it actually took several hours. I could not believe how much time had lapsed. We never actually saw Bob. But we heard a ruckus on the front porch and we knew it was time to end the session. We all laughed that Bob wanted the house to himself again. During the evening he had made his presence known twice. Once when Steven had come up the steps and had said "he didn't get me!" and had laughed. As he was standing with his back to the basement door, everyone heard a loud "HA!" As if to say, I let you go, but I was there the whole time. And then when it was apparent that Bob wasn't going to show himself because we were all over the house taking readings, getting pictures, etc. Steven had gone up to the second floor of the house and had stuck his head out an open window which leads to part of the roof of the first floor. Bob growled at him. We were all in the house and couldn't hear it but when Steven came back downstairs he let us know where Bob was. Everyone wanted pictures. People were pairing off and going off on their own to start snapping pics. Tootie was getting pictures as fast as she could as was Michelle and Jennifer. There were others as well, such as myself who were just snapping here and there. Jennifer had gotten one picture of a tree area and asked what it was. As I looked at it, the white blob on the digital camera screen looked like exactly that, a white blob. I suggested she turn it upside down and the results were amazing. It looked to be a baby in a christening gown, hanging upside down from a tree limb. It was enough to make me sick. There were other photos such as "the gathering" photo. It was amazing. It looked like a group of people with torches blazing walking behind the house. One face was turned toward the camera and it had the look of pure hate on it. There were also pictures of fire coming out of the house, which of course, was not on fire at all. I did not get a thing on my camera. All the photos appeared to be quite normal. But also, I just don't always see things in the pictures. We were all standing outside and I had called my family to come and pick me up. While waiting I walked out into the street and took a picture of the front of the house. Joe and Devin were standing near the front door on the porch. Others were sitting having cigarettes and talking. I turned and looked down the street for just a second to see if my family was on their way yet, and as I turned back to look at the house, the screen door to the front porch opened, wide. There was no one there. Devin and Joe even turned to look and see who was there. I stood there not knowing if I had actually seen that or not. I told the group what I had seen and Linda said that Bob had gotten us out of the house and was ready to get some rest. We laughed at that. I even asked Devin and Joe if they had seen this and they said that they had their backs to it, and no one was there, as they turned to look, no one was there! After that, I and the others who had been at the house started posting on the TAPS forum. There was a turn of events and to this day I do not know what happened. The people on the forum before had been eager to hear what had occurred and what was going on. After we posted our experiences, we were met with a lot of hostility. I was at a loss at to what had occurred. I knew that the group started by Steven had some problems, and members had left, but I couldn't see that it would have made so many people so angry. After that the thread was locked but I stayed in contact with Linda and Steven. There were things that I had heard at the Union house that was hard to understand. That there had been a black mist roll from the kitchen into the living room and that people there had seen something that had morphed into a hideous monster which looked like Jesus, only it was horrible. There continued to be odd photos of what looked like the house being on fire, only it wasn't. And I could agree that some of the things caught on the pictures were camera anomalies. Absolutely, that could be. But there were others that had what appeared to be a black slave woman who was holding a baby or a small demon outside the window. The number of entities in the home can't even be counted. Is Bob in charge of them all? Or is he holding them against their will? Is Bob a demon? Or is he just an opportunist? Linda and her family fell apart during their time in the house. They moved away from one another. Linda became very ill, to the point she was hospitalized. I spoke with Linda a couple of times during her time in the hospital and she seemed to be at her wit’s end. She did get better. It took her time to heal. Her concern though was for the safety of her family, and for the family that would soon be moving into the house. She tried to talk to the family and they wanted no part of hearing about it. They no longer live there. There was another family that moved in and from the rumor mill, they were excited to be living in a haunted house. The landlady denied there was anything going on in the house. Linda and Steven were trying to set up an exorcism, but the landlady stopped it cold. The local newspaper was to write a story about the Union House. The story was never written. Did the landlady play a role in that? I bet she did. Do I believe Bob is a demon? I was one that mentioned him being a demon, and yet, I wonder if he was that diabolical. I can't say that he isn't. I didn't live the nightmare that Steven and his three children did. I didn't live the slow demise of Linda's family. They are all putting their lives back together. It is a slow healing process. Learning to trust each other again, learning to live without being in the spotlight. I do believe something is in that house, even to this day. Bob, whether he is a human entity or one straight from hell, has caused problems for many people, not just the ones who lived there. People who visited the house had all types of activity in their own homes. What about the other entities? Are they good or evil? Are they being held against their will? Enough to make you wonder, isn’t it? The friendships forged during this outing are still there, still going. That is the one thing that came out of the Union experiences. Steven started his own forum and has done very well with it. Getting the word out is what it is all about. Give people a place to tell their stories in safety, without reprisal."
