Huskey Family Cabin

PARANORMAL TASK FORCE conducted an investigation of the historic Huskey Cabin in Hillsboro,
MO on May 23, 2009.  In attendance from Paranormal Task Force (PTF) were Greg, Gary, Sandy,
Bobbi, Jeremy, Ron, Chris K, Matt H, Matt W and Margaret.

Local weather conditions for this investigation for the time period of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. were
cloudy with drizzles, wind calm to from the NW to 10 mph,  temperature was 46 degrees
Fahrenheit dropping to 44, dew point was 37 raising to 38 then dropping to 36, barometric pressure
was 29.93 rising to 29.97 and relative humidity was 71% rising to 79%.

Lunar data was a Waxing Cresent Moon at  10% Full. Solar X-Rays were Normal and the Geomagnetic
Field was Quiet.




Frank Huskey, a life long farmer and resident of the Hillsboro area began the construction of a small
one room log cabin in 1899.  The cabin was finished in 1900 and was originally located on Klondike
Road a little west of Hillsboro.  

This was home to the Huskey’s until Frank passed away in 1945.  This small cabin is also where
Frank and his wife Maggie raised twelve children along with one granddaughter, Eunice, whose
mother Dorothy died while given birth to her. After Frank’s death Maggie lived with her children in
their various homes until her death in 1958.  Both Frank and Maggie Huskey’s remains are now at
rest in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

In 2003, Oliver Huskey, the son of Frank Huskey, donated the family cabin to the Jefferson County
Parks Department.  It was then moved to its present day location next to the Governor Thomas
Fletcher Home in downtown Hillsboro where it was dedicated in 2004.

Recently paranormal investigators and others have heard unexplainable footsteps and other
disembodied sounds.  It has also been noted that at time batteries have drained at an
unexplainable accelerated rate and some electronic equipment was shut off on its own.  Others
have experienced what they call “strange pressure” changes and some have even seen the ghost
of a younger lady wearing a long white nightshirt looking down at them from the second floor above.
